Usel were awarded the Social Impact Award at the Social Enterprise NI awards on Friday at their annual gala awards night.
The Social Impact award goes to an organisation that can clearly demonstrate how the work they carry out has significant social and environmental impact in Northern Ireland.
The organisation supports over 1200 people with a disability or health condition every year to find or sustain employment. Since April 2018 Usel has supported over 100 people with a disability or health condition into unsupported employment across Northern Ireland. The organisation has also diverted over 1000 tonnes of waste from landfill through it's recycling operations.
Speaking about the recent award win CEO Bill Atkinson said " I am delighted that we have picked up this award this evening. Creating impact and championing ability is what Usel strive to do on a daily basis. To be recognised for our social and environmental impact is a fantastic result, made even more special by the creation of 100 jobs for people with disabilities or health conditions this year. It is recognition for the work our teams do in transforming people's lives."
As regional winners Usel will now go forward to the UK Social Enterprise Awards on the 28th November in London.
