Who we are.
Our Stories.
At USEL, we help people with health conditions and disabilities find meaningful employment. Our personal stories highlight resilience, success, and the power of opportunity.

Simon
Simon joined USEL in 2018 after facing challenges in securing long-term employment that truly suited his skills and passions. As someone on the autism spectrum, he found it difficult to adapt to traditional workplaces, despite his deep love for cooking. However, at USEL’s Ability Cafés, Simon discovered an inclusive and supportive environment where he could thrive. Through hands-on experience and dedicated mentorship, he has honed his culinary skills, building confidence and expertise in the kitchen. Today, Simon is a valued team member, proving that with the right opportunities, talent and passion can flourish.

John
John has been a valued member of the USEL team for 17 years, working in recycling. As a profoundly deaf individual, he has shown incredible dedication and resilience in his role. His commitment to his work and his strong work ethic make him an essential part of the team. Through his time at USEL, John has made a significant impact, contributing to a more sustainable future while thriving in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Michele
Michele has been a dedicated member of the USEL team since 1997. Over the years, she has faced many challenges, but the kindness and support of her colleagues have made a lasting impact. Michele’s dedication and hard work have earned her a place on The Shaw Trust List and an award for Outstanding Business Support Services. Working at USEL has allowed her to not only help others but also support her favorite charities, making her role both fulfilling and meaningful.
